Polished Quarry Tiled Floors – How Do You Clean Them?
Simply Floor Cleaning’s Quarry Tile Cleaning.
Cleaning polished quarry tiled floors is a substantial job. Typically, layer upon layer of floor seal or polish is applied over time without the proper preliminary process of stripping the floor polish. After a certain number of layers of polish have built up on the tile surface, it will start to look dull rather than bright with each new application.
Floor polish products are relatively simple to apply to your tiled floor. So long as you ensure the floor is completely free of dirt and contaminants and has been neutralised after cleaning, it looks good. The most common types have a gloss or satin finish and will dry bright and vibrant. However, the instructions don’t always make clear that all polished floors require floor polish stripping. This process is essential because, as the polish wears, it degrades. It is not a big issue with only two coats on the surface, but with additional coats, degrading layers of polish, and dirt become sealed into the surface. When there is too much polish on the floor, darker patches appear, and the polish will eventually peel off.
If your floor is in this condition, we recommend hiring a professional floor-cleaning company that is fully equipped and prepared to restore it to peak condition.

If you are maintaining your quarry-tiled or stone floor surfaces, it would be wise to contact your local janitorial supplier for advice on the products they stock and how to use them safely. Most reputable suppliers will have it in stock or can quickly provide a COSHH sheet for the product, which gives you all the relevant information for safe use and application. You may find that you can get a comparable product from the brand you use in a larger quantity for much less than you pay now.
Using a floor polish stripper, sealant, or polish requires a degree of care, so if you're doing the work yourself, do a little research before stripping and resealing your floor. Alternatively, call a professional Essex floor-cleaning company to advise you and provide a free estimate.
